Volume 2 Number 3

Text Box: critically, build character and self esteem.
The process of education involves a commitment. A commitment to do everything we can to make sure we have all the ingredients for learning available to us.
It takes commitment from many people, dedicated to improve the lives of our future – our children. It takes a village. The village includes the student, the teacher, parents, relatives, the Text Box: media and many other variables which touch our children every day. I ask that each of us evaluate what we are doing individually to make a difference in our children’s lives, so that they may inherit a positive future.
Text Box: As I reflect over the past years I have been here at Brisbane Academy, I quickly sense the urgency of the educational system in this country. Text Box: Brisbane Officials and Students are Planning a Trip to South Africa
Text Box: This Spring, several Brisbane Academy staff and students are planning an ILEEP (International Learner Educator Exchange Program) exchange trip to South Africa. The mission of the trip is to “bring a cultural exchange of knowledge to our students,” according to Ms. Brisbane.
The trip will take the group to Text Box: Cape Town and Johannesburg and will provide the students with a memorable lesson that extends beyond the classroom. The students will research and learn about South Africa. They will keep a journal of their experiences during the 10 day trip. Upon their return, they will share their knowledge with the rest of the students at Brisbane Academy.
Text Box: There are several fundraisers being conducted at the present time to help finance the trip. For a complete list of the fundraiser projects or to make a tax deductible donation please call the school. There are also two Rassouli “Fusion Art” workshops planned to help support the trip (see calendar on page 4).
